Wet Paint II

Wet Paint II is a continuation of the wabi-sabi inspired Wet Paint series. Each painting in the Wet Paint series started as a canvas drop cloth upon which I mixed my paints. As I painted piece after piece, the drop cloth began to take on a life of its own. I then sought to weave together the past with the present by adding new layers of paint.
In Wet Paint II strokes of classic earthy red oil paints blend with saturated cobalt blue acrylics, creating a textural wonderland, an ethereal abstract landscape. The bright electric cantaloupe colored orb on the left reminds us of the final moments before the sun sets. The wispy black velvet strokes of paint take inspiration from the fast moving clouds outside of my Honolulu studio window. Impermanence gives our world color.
